Finally ventured in to Flo's Burgers on 11th for lunch. Arrived just after 1, so not at all crowded. First, the place is a dive burger joint, no doubt about it. There's a fine line between a dive joint and a dump, and honestly, Flo's flirts with that like in both locations. That said, I'll eat in some pretty sketchy places, so that didn't deter me. Place my order at the counter, and went to get my drink... good thing I like tea, because all the soda options were off the table except for Mountain Dew and Lemonade. Which was fine, because I usually drink water when eating out. After a moderate wait, not too long for sure, I heard my name called and went to get my order. Holy hamburger, Batman, they dish up a lot of food. For this trip I went with a double bacon cheeseburger and haystack onion rings. Both were well above par, compared to other burger joints in town. The burger patties were decently thick (both of them) and full of beefy flavor. One hallmark of a great burger joint, in my opinion, is the amout of grease you have to wipe off the bun before you chow down, and Flo's hit that mark. The onion rings/sticks/strands were outstanding. I probably ate most of them before I made any serious headway on the burger. Overall, a well executed burger offering for a reasonable price. Nothing to complain about at all.
First time meeting here. All all the burger was pretty good. The fries are the homestyle, skin on and cooked to perfection. I had the BBQ Bacon burger and no complaints except I would've liked whole pieces of bacon not crumbles on top of the burger patty. I will definitely be back next time to try the bomb burger.
Great service. Loved the bomb burger--it was unique! Very kind people at the service counter as well
I had a Bomb Burger and onion rings. The rings were exceptional - crispy and not greasy. The burger was very good with good ingredients and good preparation. I wish they had offered me the deluxe trimmings because all the meat and cheese of the burger needed some greens to go with it. Service is order at the window and the people were pleasant. I asked for a fork and was given a "why do you need a fork to eat a burger" lecture. The place is clean but a little worn. Yes, I'd go there again.
The burger is a solid five stars! I had the special for that day... the bbq cheddar cheeseburger. The fried onion rings on top of the burger were really good! Added a great crunch and burst of flavor. The bbq sauce was sweet and just perfect. The burger dripped of it. So next time I will ask for it on the side. I probably would've liked less mayonnaise as well. It was pretty heavy-handed. The homemade ranch for .52 cents we didn't care for. Too much dill, so it took the ranch flavor out. The tater tots were very crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. 5 star tots. The kids chicken chunks were really good. Real chicken is used not processed... and they're very crunchy and crispy. *Picky kid approved! The soda machine is old, and the taste was off. The waitress had to keep sticking a stick up there to unclog the ice. Nozzles looked dirty. My cousin said the grilled cheese was good, she like it a lot. Which kind of surprise me because it was nothing to look at. Tables, booth, floors were dirty and sticky. The tables are old...they really need to be sanded down and refinished. The decor gives off a 50's vibe. The music fit the scene well. We all agree we would come back. I would bring Clorox wipes and skip the soda. Also like I said ask for condiments on the side. This is the type of place you would expect Guy Fieri to come and talk about how great the hamburgers are. But also I would expect Chef Ramsey to come in and say how dirty it is, and outdated . Makes me concerned about the kitchen, because it really did look messy back there . *They give a 10% military discount.
Tulsa burger review. Flo's burger diner Tulsa. First visit. The Burger could have been 5/5 but heavy handed on each one with mayo/mustard. The Buns, meat, vegetables all were perfect in taste and quality/quantity. The Onion rings were 5+ and reminded me of the old Tony Romas onion ring loaf, so good. Chilli on the tots however was a 0 outta 5. Chili took the wind outta my sail real quick. Being from Texas, Chili is important to me and maybe I'm over critical but I'd love the opportunity to fix this chili recipe. The place is clean and witnessed the workers cleaning after customers left, however the decor booths/tables make it appear dirty its not. The prices and choices are great. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Music was classic 60s and 70s rock. The burger bar in Tulsa has been set, now on to the next. Rating; Burger 9.2 Sides 7.0
Flo's is not exactly like Arnold's or Weber's, but it is still a perfect, classic diner. What I mean by that is that their menu is MUCH more expansive than a lot of the more typical, local burger spots. They had several signature burgers, such as a jalepeno popper burger, and then your more typical okie style burger. I think overall, the chili cheese fries with mustard and onion that I got were INSANE. If anyone has ever been to Sid's in El Reno, this was a very close rival. My burger was also excellent--I ordered a deluxe cheese--but I would probably say that overall Arnold's was better. Still delicious though and definitely a Midtown treasure.
I've been asking my coworkers where is the best place to get a burger in Tulsa - there were several places to consider. On this visit we went to Flo's Burgers. We went during the lunch hour and although it wasn't extremely busy they must of had call in orders ahead of us. The 3 of us ordered and it took us about 20 min to get our food. As far as burgers go it was pretty darn good. I ordered the Jack Daniel's Burger which came with Jack Daniel's BBQ, Swiss, Bacon & Onions. Overall very enjoyable! I got the combo meal which I choose the Fat Fries. Not my favorite but manage to eat most of them. We also chose to split The Sampler Platter. The platter had fried pickles, fried jalapeño's, fried mushrooms, haystack onion rings and ranch dressing. The fried pickles & mushrooms were the best! I usually refrain from Ranch dressing because I can never find one that actually tastes decent until today! I packed up the remainder to bring home. The restaurant was pretty cool with a lot of music memorabilia. Definitely enjoyed the music playing over the sound system. The jury is still out until I try several more places. This Burger was top notch!
I am so glad that I stopped here, traveling back from OK. You will not be disappointed. My wife had the the Cuban burger, haystack onion rings. This grilled to order and is severed loaded with Swiss cheese, topped with shaved ham, and piled high with shredded pork. The pickles and mustard gave it the right amount of tang, on a toasted bun, as opposed to the traditional french bread, but it was still amazing. Flo's is the most generous business thst gives back to the community with such a amazing heart to serve their customers and patrons as well! My favorite menu item is the the Ribeye French Dip. With the wide number of options, this place has a very friendly atmosphere and there is something for everyone that is sure to please.
